With cheerful art and beginning vocabulary words, this upbeat story showcases a young brother and sister, who proudly report what they can do independently, including basic bedtime routines (I can sleep in my bed; I can go potty), ways that they help to keep the house in order (I can hang up my coat; I can put away my toys), playtime activities (I can paint), and helpful behavior: (I can share). The pages come to an affectionate close with the kids and their parents sharing hugs: (I can kiss good night). The colorful, textured, mixed-media illustrations show the smiling kids engaged in familiar activities under the supervision of not-too-intrusive adults. Warm and supportive, this slim title is a reminder that even small, everyday tasks can become milestones that bring confidence and pride.--Rosenfeld, Shelle Copyright 2010 Booklist

PreS-The accomplishments of two young siblings are presented, from morning to night. Short, declarative sentences announce, "I can sleep in my bed," "I can eat with my fork and spoon," "I can try different foods." At preschool, the twins "read," paint, and demonstrate social skills such as sharing. At the end of the day they put on their pajamas and kiss their family good night. The bright, cheery digital collages have an eye-catching variety of textures and patterns. An exuberant celebration of three-year-old milestones.-Linda Ludke, London Public Library, Ontario, Canada (c) Copyright 2010. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. Following a brother and a sister through their day, Carluccio's simple text notes the kids' accomplishments, from eating with a fork and spoon to using the potty. Her painterly collages are warm and friendly, beautifully textured and inviting. The book provides a perfect chance to explore the particular territory of three-year-olds and bolster their sense of independence. (c) Copyright 2011.
