PreS-K-Maisy packs her suitcase, walks to the station, and travels by train with her friend Cyril. After spending a day by the ocean, they return to their hotel room to sleep, but not before writing postcards and reading a story. The text consists of short declarative sentences and has two simple questions that can be answered by using the bold, gouache illustrations. This book gives children a preview of what can happen when they leave home to go on vacation and turns apprehension into anticipation.-Tanya Boudreau, Cold Lake Public Library, AB, Canada (c) Copyright 2010. Maisy and company pack up and head for the beach. After a train ride deposits them at the shore, she and her friends build sandcastles, write postcards, and stay overnight in a hotel. As usual, Cousins's bright, simple, color-saturated paintings will draw preschoolers in as they follow along with another "Maisy First Experiences" story. (c) Copyright 2010.
