We stay at Poderuccio, located just outside of Pienza in the Siena region. Not all agriturismos prepare meals (or cook with the same skill set), so our research is rewarded with home-grown saffron and freshly made pecorino and cold-pressed olive oil. Owners Erika and Gabriella create balanced and nuanced courses that comment inspiringly on traditional Tuscan preparation. Two and a half glorious hours into the first dinner of a three-night stay, I'm still taking bites of a fifth course. (c) Copyright 2010.
