Review by Library Journal Review

Lambert and Kendall (The Fabric & Yarn Dyer's Handbook) try to accomplish a lot in a brief volume, with somewhat mixed results. The step-by-step directions for using natural dyes on fabrics, yarn, and fiber are good, but the brief descriptions of some of the techniques (batik, for example) barely scratch the surface of what can be done. The collection of recipes, which include combinations of natural dyes and mordants, is a good reference for readers experienced with natural dyes. A focus on either dyeing yarn and fiber or dyeing fabric might have made for a better book. (c) Copyright 2010. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc.
