Review by Booklist Review
*Starred Review* Count on one hand the stitchery reference guides you can trust: Vogue, for one, also Better Homes and Gardens. Then there are the specialty presses, like Interweave. Now, adding to the well-established Harmony Guides series from Interweave is a collection of 150 crochet edgings, all geared to turn a plain Jane garment or blanket into a designer-worthy item or gift. The basics are admirably covered, with special attention paid to black-and-white illustrations of stitch how-to's. The stitches follow, each with a close-up color photograph of the finished products along with prose direction and stitch diagrams. Innovation reigns: it will be hard to decide between beaded loops or pintuck ridges, dandelion dangles, or star fringes. The only drawback? That the stitches aren't grouped in any particular order, whether by style or by level of difficulty. Nonetheless, a welcome, detail-laden supplement to long-treasured references.--Jacobs, Barbara Copyright 2009 Booklist
