Review by Booklist Review

One hundred classic nursery rhymes fill this small, sturdy paperback. Unlike the shelves of big, colorful, illustrated Mother Goose titles aimed straight at preschoolers, this collection has a format that may be best suited for older readers and even adults, who will want to revisit their favorites and then share them with young kids. Each spread features a single rhyme along with a small black-and-white illustration some by illustrator Anderson, who created them more than 50 years ago; some by contemporary artist Jackson. The wry, rambunctious art captures the fun in the words, and readers will love sharing the bouncing rhythm of the rhymes and nonsense. Remember all the words of There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly, Ride a Cock Horse, Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary, The Itsy-Bitsy Spider, and more? The package is nostalgic, but the rhymes are part of us, and the beat and sound of the words feel as fresh as ever.--Rochman, Hazel Copyright 2009 Booklist
