Review by School Library Journal Review

K-Gr 2-Melvin the cement truck gets a flat on a dark, stormy night and searches for a replacement in a creepy junkyard. As soon as he finds one and has it on his rim, a spooky voice calls out, "Who took my golden tire?" Melvin tries to hide, but the voice keeps following him. Just when he thinks he can't take it anymore, the owner of the voice is revealed and is not so scary after all. The familiar characters will please fans of this series. The book is easily paired with early-reader versions of "The Teeny Tiny Woman" and Alvin Schwartz's In a Dark, Dark Room (HarperCollins, 1984) for almost-scary Halloween reading.-Stacy Dillon, LREI, New York City (c) Copyright 2010.
