Review by School Library Journal Review

Gr 3-6-Monte has gathered eight beloved stories in this easy-to-read book. In the title story, a fierce dragon ravages the city until the king, with the help of a clever shoemaker, comes up with a solution. Life lessons are taught in a few of the stories, such as "Neptune and the Naughty Fish," a cautionary tale about wanting to be noticed. As with many fairy tales, not everything is gentle, as in "The King Who Was Eaten by Mice." The black-and-white pen-and-ink drawings are amusing and unique. A suitable addition to most fairy-tale and folklore collections.-Carrie Rogers-Whitehead, Kearns Library, UT Copyright 2009 Reed Business Information.
