Gr 4-7-The fourth book (Scholastic, 2009) in the series, written by Jude Watson, finds siblings Amy and Dan Cahill in Cairo searching for clues among ancient tombs, in museums, and on sunken islands that will lead to the Cahill family secret. Along the way, many relatives spy, chase, or imprison them as they decode the mysteries.ÅWho can they trust?ÅMaybe no one.ÅDavid Pittu does a fabulous job of giving the many characters different voices, and using sinister or snooty tones as necessary. For fans of the series.-Debbie Whitbeck, West Ottawa Public Schools, Holland, MI (c) Copyright 2010. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. No redistribution permitted.

Three different authors contribute volumes to the high-octane series about a treacherous, globe-circling scavenger hunt. Dan and Amy are still the principle underdogs in the search for the clues (a Mozart manuscript, a Japanese sword, ancient hieroglyphs) that will allow them to claim their family's historical power. The (stock) characters are energetically rendered; the action never abates. [Review covers these 39 Clues titles: One False Note, The Sword Thief, and Beyond the Grave.] (c) Copyright 2010.
