Review by Booklist Review

An unnamed young rabbit accidentally opens a deep hole in his bathroom and falls in. He lands in a prehistoric land where he is immediately chased by dinosaurs and is worshipped as a god by a village of prehistoric rabbits. After a monster captures the rabbits, he embarks on a mission to rescue them. Along the way he encounters Willie, the man who operates the robotic monster and who plans to use the rabbit hero's bottle of barbecue sauce to start a chain of prehistoric fast-food joints to feed his millions of slaves. The problem is, what are these cryptic ingredients listed on the label of the sauce? Craddock, who is also the artist of Manga Claus (2006), brings a brightly colored, zany cartoon quality to the story and art, with the hero rabbit falling into one peril after another. The proposed fast-food empire is just the kind of plot that young readers can follow; reading this book is just as fun as watching Saturday morning cartoons.--Kan, Kat Copyright 2008 Booklist

Review by Horn Book Review

These entertaining graphic novels star an adventurous rabbit, first traveling through time to a prehistoric world populated by dinosaurs (Mambo), then tangling with a pirate curse (Palooza). Both of the quick-moving adventures are filled with humor and danger, though the books' frantic narrative style, with busy illustrations to match, may induce whiplash. While flossing, Stone Rabbit discovers a bottomless pit of doom in his bathroom floorone more reason to hate Mondays. He's suckedinto the hole andthrough a time vortex of laughing clocks that dumps himin a T. Rex nest. He escapesseveral herds ofdinosonly to find himself mistaken for a god by a tribe of stone-age bunnies. When their village is destroyed and the population captured by a high-tech Cro-Magnon named Willie, Stone Rabbit comesto the rescue (reluctantly). In gratitude, they find a way to send him home. Author of 2006's Manga Claus and a web-comic (for older people) also starring Stone Rabbit, Craddock's first graphic outing for children is Saturday-morning cartoons all over againbright, full-color, googly-eyed adventures that zip by in a rush of nonsensical fun. Readers will be re-readers, and they'll want volume two, Pirate Palooza (ISBN: 978-0-375-85660-0; PLB: 978-0-375-95660-7), out the same day. Best get both.
