Chinese brush painting requires a specialized brush and ink technique on paper or silk. Like the calligraphy in Qu's previous The Simple Art of Chinese Calligraphy, brush painting has many historical conventions that must be followed. This book beautifully illustrates the materials and techniques required for painting flowers and birds on paper in both the freehand and the academic style.
