Review by Library Journal Review

Southeastern France (Provence and the Riviera) is showcased in this unique two-disc set. Shot in high definition from a helicopter-mounted camera, the film provides an ethereal view of villages and the surrounding countryside. Not a typical travelog-no travel advice or maps are given-it mainly offers a feel and appreciation for the area as well as a desire to see more. The narration, at times overpowered by the background classical music, doesn't really provide any substantive information anyway. The aerial perspective produces a detached and surreal quality. The DVDs include an index and links to bonus footage not aired in the original PBS program. These DVDs are recommended for those who want to get a glimpse of these regions and enjoy the beautiful scenery of France.-Christine Rigda, Northeastern Ohio Univs. Coll. of Medicine Lib., Rootstown (c) Copyright 2010.
