Part of the Shockwave: Social Studies series, this introduction to stock market investment pairs nonfiction and fiction components. Illustrated with cartoonish drawings, the fictional scenario features two siblings, one in a wheelchair, who chat about finance with their parents and make Monopoly-money investments. Numerous text boxes and sidebars extend the characters' dialogue with information about reading stock tables, Wall Street history, and socially responsible investing. Serviceable if a bit disjointed, this title addresses a topic that is underserved despite many kids' keen interest. Copyright 2008 Booklist Reviews.
