Review by Booklist Review

The rediscovery of knitting as a legitimate pastime for a wide variety of audiences, from celebrities to teens, has made the craft a fertile playground for artists and creative types as well as for longtime experts. Here, cutting-edge fashion and knittingwise experience provide readers and stitchers with a true choice in style. In a far more conservative look at knitting trends, author-editor (The New Knitting Stitch Library, 1999; and Family Circle magazine) Stanfield takes advantage of the urge to decorate spurred no doubt by Nicky Epstein's trio of Knitting on the Edge (2004); Knitting over the Edge (2005); and Knitting beyond the Edge (2006). It's more of a refresher course than a brand-new knitting category; it's aimed at first-timers as well as old hands in its content, beginning with yarns, needles, and abbreviations, then segueing to the inventory of trims, the how-to's (called technical data), and six projects that showcase a few of the 150 edgings, like woolen gloves with flowers or baby overalls with trim. The only issue? The separation of the designs from the instructions, forcing readers to flip pages.--Jacobs, Barbara Copyright 2007 Booklist
