Yue learned Chinese brush painting as a child through following the strict disciplines of three masters. Here, she shows the beginner how to paint dramatic landscapes in the classic Chinese style using simple and affordable equipment. In a series of painting lessons, she focuses on the key elements of Chinese landscape painting-e.g., trees, mountains, water, sky, clouds-then combines them with depictions of wind, rain, fog, and snow to evoke moods and seasons. For an equally solid volume on another genre of Chinese painting, see Lian Quan Zhen's Chinese Watercolor Techniques: Painting Animals. Recommended. (c) Copyright 2010.
