Review by Booklist Review

Takahashi's eye-catching cousin to a scrapbooker's guide is just right for individuals wanting to create a special place to gather thoughts and memories of a more personal nature than those one might find in a traditional scrapbook. Although Takahashi, an artist who has written many journals, includes words of encouragement to readers intimidated by the idea of recording personal experiences, her real focus is on bookmaking. To that end, her experience as a watercolorist, calligrapher, and bookmaker serve her well. After an illustrated introduction to terms, tools, and materials, she offers a collection of 21 projects to copy or use as inspiration. Each project is clearly described and delicately illustrated in Takahashi's favorite medium, which is also used to good effect in spot art throughout the book. Someone wanting a record of the furred and feathered visitors to a garden or a special place to keep love letters sent by a spouse will find inspiration, as well as guidance, in this charming book of ideas.--Zvirin, Stephanie Copyright 2007 Booklist
