Review by Publisher's Weekly Review

Gr 5+-If one had to pick a single book to introduce someone unfamiliar with the graphic-novel format, this would be it. In this first of nine volumes, the three cousins--Fone, Phoney, and Smiley Bone--are banished from their Boneville home. The small, bulbous-nosed creatures get lost wandering a vast desert before finally stumbling upon a land known as the Valley, where they are plunged into heroes' roles in an exciting epic adventure. This is one of very few graphic novels truly appropriate for everyone from younger children to adults. A grand, truly original tale that echoes and honors Tolkien without feeling derivative, the arrival of this excellent translation is cause for celebration. (c) Copyright PWxyz, LLC.
