Review by Library Journal Review

From McCarthy, an expert on mien shiang (the art of ancient Chinese face reading), comes a book on a form of body language. According to the author, one can obtain significant insights into someone's personality just by analyzing his or her face. She relates the five elements of mien shiang, indicating how the wood, fire, earth, metal, and water personality each has its own characteristics. Extensive photographs assist in understanding the meanings of a variety of ears, cheekbones, noses, and other facial features. Although McCarthy is persuasive, readers may balk at some of her claims, e.g., that mien shiang can be used to determine if one's financ?(e) will cheat. Still, it will draw in the New Age and astrology crowd. Recommended for larger libraries. (c) Copyright 2010. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc.
