Washor, a professional artist and former textile designer, could barely lift her painting arm after injuring her shoulder. Working on smaller canvases, however, was relatively painless-and had lots of other advantages. The highest quality paints are more affordable, since less paint is used. Furthermore, one can work on several small works in the same space one large painting might take. In this illustrated guide (250 color), Washor expertly guides novices on selecting quality supplies on a budget, mixing color, scaling down subjects to fit smaller areas, and capturing a range of textures and reflective surfaces. She offers sound advice on framing, displaying, and marketing work as well. A distinctive approach; recommended. (c) Copyright 2010.
