Review by Kirkus Book Review
This trilingual collection of counting rhymes is divided into two parts. The first half features the numbers 1 to 10 in Spanish. Each number has its own spread and includes a rhyme in English ("Uno is one. A rhythmic, wooden drum to beat on just for fun"), as well as the Spanish word for the main object addressed in the rhyme ("un tambor"), complete with pronunciation ("oon tahm-bohr") and translation ("one drum"). Simple but appealing felt illustrations of bees, trees, balloons, cookies and assorted musical instruments on brightly colored backgrounds clarify each number and verse. The flip side contains the identical illustrations and verses, this time with French numbers, French words and French pronunciations. The rhymes are occasionally stilted and the illustrations a trifle sweet, but taken as a whole, this seems an effective teaching tool that children will enjoy.
