Review by Horn Book Review

This unconventional alphabet book matches various animals with unexpected letters, and the game isn't too difficult. Most of the associations are made by indicating characteristics: e.g., ""Q is for Duck. Why? Because a Duck Quacks"" or ""I is for Mosquito. Why? Because Mosquito bites Itch."" Simple cartoon drawings, colorized in this edition, add humor. (c) Copyright 2010. The Horn Book, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. No redistribution permitted. Review by Kirkus Book Review

Q is for Duck. . . because it quacks, of course. Likewise B is for dog, F is for bird, M is for cow, and so on. Not all are as obvious--I is for mosquito because a mosquito bite itches--but all are guessable. And though the rewards are no greater than the effort demanded, this could help to pass time till the bell rings for recess. If more minutes remain, it won't take much to get the kids creating entries of their own. Copyright ©Kirkus Reviews, used with permission.
