Review by Library Journal Review

With their huge screens, drive-in movie theaters were everywhere, starting in the 1930s until they reached their peak in the 1950s and then declined in popularity in the 1970s, though there are still hundreds in operation nationwide. Drive-in Movie Memories is a wonderfully crafted look at the fad from all sides: business, personal, and social. The filmmakers have interviewed the stars, the movie executives, the drive-in owners, and the consumers-this reviewer could see movies playing at her local drive-in from the upstairs window of her childhood home-and their insights are complemented by some amazing footage of the construction and history of drive-ins from all over the country, covering many decades. Loaded with anecdotes, trivia, and nostalgia, this documentary will appeal to baby boomers and beyond. Highly recommended.-Ellen Druda, Half Hollow Hills Community Lib., Dix Hills, NY (c) Copyright 2010. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc.
