Gr. 2-4. Beginning with volume 29, Christmas in Camelot0 (2001), each volume in the Magic Tree House series has been called "A Merlin Mission." While still featuring Jack and Annie in time-travel adventures, the books are now longer than those in the original set. In this story, Merlin challenges the children to find the Magician of Sound, the Magician of Light, the Magician of the Invisible, and the Magician of Iron at the 1889 World's Fair in Paris. Readers will find the tale and the many dramatically lit illustrations equally satisfying. --Carolyn Phelan Copyright 2006 Booklist

This latest entry sends siblings Jack and Annie to the 1889 World's Fair in Paris, on a mission for Merlin to save four new magicians from danger. Readers familiar with the series won't find any surprises, but they are sure to enjoy the fast-paced action, a flying bicycle, and an introduction to four of history's ""magicians:"" Bell, Edison, Pasteur, and Eiffel.
