Review by Library Journal Review

Japanese ink painting, originally derived from the Chinese, has developed stylistically along simpler lines in keeping with Japanese aesthetic taste. Ono, a Japanese artist who lives and teaches in Britain, presents this guide for Western artists using Japanese materials. It includes equipment, practice exercises for techniques, and projects for decorating household items. Included are a section of haiku poems and characters for 100 Western first names. Like its companion volume, Qu Lei Lei's The Simple Art of Chinese Brush Painting, this book is a good selection for specialized art or Asian collections. (c) Copyright 2010.
