Gr 1-3 These brief introductions to their respective subjects include descriptions of the animals' habitats, physical characteristics, and behavioral traits. On each spread, one or two easy-to-read paragraphs appear opposite an appealing full-page, full-color photo. While these titles are attractive, books in the "New True Book" series (Children's) are targeted at a similar audience and have more detailed and informative content. They are better choices for browsers and report writers. Katherine Borchert, Floris Elementary School, Herndon, VA (c) Copyright 2010. A brief text covers topics such as habitat, physical characteristics, various species, food (and feeding frenzies!), and predators. An attempt is made to dispel myths in the blandly written but informative text, which is printed in a large typeface. The full-page, close-up color photos are eye-catching. Glos., ind.
