Review by Library Journal Review

Here are design sourcebooks for two of the most popular elements of Celtic art style. Each book has a historical introduction followed by chapters of designs adapted from stone, metalwork, illuminated manuscripts, and modern sources. Unlike some authors who go to great lengths explaining the construction of Celtic motifs, Davis (Knotwork & Spirals: The Celtic Art Workbook) presents just a single, lovely, full-color design on each page with a black-and-white repeat on the following page for tracing or photocopying. All his adaptations are fully documented with original source and location. These books are a joy to look at and are an excellent source for needle workers, painters, and other decorative artists. They make for good selections for arts and crafts collections. (c) Copyright 2010. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. No redistribution permitted.
