If asked to choose the most indispensable power tool, most woodworkers would opt for the table saw, which is generally their first "big ticket" tool. Most owners use it only for straight-line crosscuts and rips, but Burton, a professional woodworker and high school technology instructor, shows readers how to get much more out of their saws. Tools and accessories can be very expensive, but he reveals how to make numerous jigs that appear to be equal to most commercial products in both performance and safety. Readers of every skill level will find this title useful, as it covers not only the basics but also more advanced techniques. Some authors assume that every reader has a large, commercially equipped shop, which can be discouraging; instead, Burton explains how to deal with the limitations of the tools that most home woodworkers own.
