Review by School Library Journal Review

Gr 2-6-The 60 activities promised in the title hark back to a slower, quieter time. Making up riddles, face painting, creating bubbles (including directions for the formula and wands), balloon tosses, bug hunts, making s'mores and pretzels, learning sign language and Morse code, backyard camping, three-legged races, knot tying, whistling, and (heavens!) reading a book are just some of the ideas presented. There's nothing new here-just a gentle reminder of life before Nintendo and Rollerblades. It's more of an idea book for those dog days of summer, though some of the directions are a bit sketchy. The black-and-white cartoons that appear on each page add to the fun. Bring on the lemonade!-Jennifer J. Gallant, Cleveland Public Library, OH (c) Copyright 2010.
