Gilchrist (Decorating Your First Apartment) provides a well-rounded guide to wall decoration and the arrangement of pictures. She covers the practical side of framing and hanging artwork and collectibles, with a discussion of hardware, mats, frames, and lighting. She also looks at the more creative elements, such as how different frames and mats can affect the look of an artwork. The book is filled with color photographs that show the variety of ways to display various pieces (e.g., maps, family snapshots, checkerboards, and pots) and how these objects can complement a decor. Offering more practical advice than Alan Powell's Living with Pictures, this book will be useful for amateur and professional alike and is recommended for large interior design collections.
