Review by Booklist Review
In any garden, regardless of its style or design, arbors and trellises provide vertical structure to expand upon and enhance the space. While functioning as support for climbing vines or roses, these structures serve also as ornamentation to effectively reiterate a garden's stylistic theme. To that end, Miller and Rollin supply essential advice on the tools and materials, patterns and dimensions needed to create an assortment of garden objects appropriate to the most elegant landscape, as well as to playfully informal settings. Projects vary according to the level of skill and know-how required, with plans for simplified trellises of lattice or bamboo that should prove easy to construct, along with those for more formidable arbors displaying classic motifs. --Alice Joyce
