Review by School Library Journal Review

Gr 3-6-This book has a fresh, well-designed format and large print, which makes it easy for students to extract information. Each of the five chapters has a leadoff full-page illustration with a "Fast Facts" insert. The text pays tribute to the great debt Western civilization owes to Greece, not always noted in recent books on this country. There are several "Did you know" boxes, sidebars about interesting sidelights, and a suggested Internet site run by the publisher with useful links to more information. Also included are three full-page, clearly labeled topographical, geopolitical, and natural resource maps. With many other series books on Greece available, this book's advantages include its accessible format; lively, up-to-date text; and excellent and abundant informative photos and captions, all of which convey a very good sense of the country and its people in limited space. Libraries needing more material on Greece in simplified form for reports should definitely consider it.-Judith Constantinides, formerly at East Baton Rouge Parish Main Library, LA (c) Copyright 2010. Review by Horn Book Review

The geography and history of Ireland and Greece are briefly explored in two short, informative books. Maps and photographs highlight main points. All the basic facts needed for an elementary social studies report are present, but the daily-life sections seem somewhat stereotypical because of their brevity.
