Brown has sealed her reputation for successful romance novels with 60 best sellers, but this one, narrated by Barbara McCulloh, doesn't seem to have received much energy or attention from the prolific writer. Set a decade after a single covert kiss between a student and her high school teacher, this work has Grant and Shelley meeting again in his college classroom. The high school angst that still drives Shelley, following a failed marriage to a doctor she put through medical school, is too farfetched. Grant and Shelley's adult attraction is still frowned upon by the academic world, but neither character is developed fully enough that a listener should care. Brown's dialog is weighted down with so many cliches one might expect this to be labeled a satire of the genre. Virtually unlistenable except by the author's diehard fans, who can forgive their favorite writer anything.-Joyce Kessel, Villa Maria Coll., Buffalo, NY(c) Copyright 2010.
