Review by Library Journal Review

This is a thoroughly researched and engrossing history of the Augusta National Golf Club and its crown jewel, the Masters Tournament. Designed by Bobby Jones in the early 1930s, the Masters achieved major status more quickly than any other tournament played. While the narrative does proceed to the age of Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, the author is primarily concerned with illuminating the romantic earlier days of American golf. This is golf history at its best and it belongs in libraries with active golf collections. Laurence Hull, Cannon Memorial Lib., Concord, N.C. (c) Copyright 2010.
