Review by School Library Journal Review
Gr 7-10-This collective biography utilizes primary and secondary sources to provide factual information about the contributions of Hatshepsut, Akhenaten, Tutankhamon, Ramses II, and Cleopatra, along with some insight into their personalities. The enlightening text is well written and objective, presenting opposing theories of historians and reflecting the author's thorough research. Quotes from translations of period inscriptions and documents furnish further insight into this ancient culture and its power structure. Black-and-white maps, illustrations, and photographs of varying quality are adequate, but don't alleviate the bland, wordy appearance. Otherwise, this title is a useful resource that provides solid information.-Cynthia M. Sturgis, Ledding Library, Milwaukee, OR (c) Copyright 2010.
