Review by School Library Journal Review

Gr 1-3-While some of the selections in this collection are memorable, others will be over the heads of the intended audience or simply aren't funny. One riddle appears per page, accompanied by a large, full-color illustration and the answer. Dialogue balloons often enhance the humor. Other riddle books about monsters are available; this is not one of the best.-Sharon R. Pearce, formerly at San Antonio Public Library, TX (c) Copyright 2010. Review by Horn Book Review

What do you call a monster who is twelve feet tall? Shorty. The collection of generally clever riddles is presented in a simple format with a single riddle on each page accompanied by a bright, sometimes garishly colored, illustration. The book tends to cluster riddles about specific monsters (vampires, ghosts, werewolves), which limits variety. From HORN BOOK Spring 1999, (c) Copyright 2010.
