Gr 3-6-Boy detective Encyclopedia Brown puts his famous brain to work in Encyclopedia Brown, Boy Detective and Encyclopedia Brown and the Case of the Secret Pitch (Bantam, pap. 1985). On the way to solving these intriguing mysteries, he faces a series of adventures and mishaps. The tales contain witty puns and other verbal humor. Listeners must pay careful attention and use some deductive reasoning to crack these cases. Actor Jason Harris's narration is exceptional. Teachers can pause the tape before the mystery is solved to let listeners try to solve the case. For group or individual listening.-Denise A.
