Gr. 1-2. Using the Kitten Kids as characters, this features three short vignettes that will have instant appeal for new readers. In the first, Kit doesn't want to sleep over at Grandpa's because he has forgotten his pajamas; in the second episode, Kat helps Kit ride a bike; and in the third chapter, the duo take on a bully. The artwork is fresh and feisty and a good complement to the text. (Reviewed January 1, 1995)0448407493Ilene Cooper

Two kittens visit their grandparents, get new bicycles, and deal with a bully in the three short chapters of 'Kit and Kat', which contains dePaola's expressive illustrations. 'Scrooge' is a retelling of Dickens's 'A Christmas Carol' for slightly more advanced beginning readers; it retains the flavor of the original moderately well. From HORN BOOK 1994, (c) Copyright 2010.
