Review by Booklist Review

Graceful iconographic zooms direct attention to the location of familiar nursery rhyme and folktale characters, who lie partially hidden in the visuals carefully adapted from the Ahlbergs' picture book (Viking, 1978). Barb Luby's musical score progresses from lullabies for Baby Bunting and flute music for Bo Peep to enhanced scales for Jack and Jill, all of which enrich the mood of the occasion and the fun of the search. With a circular sweep of the camera and a conclusion of the gentle, poetic reading of the familiar verses, this delightful presentation ends at a picnic enjoyed by all the characters. Welcome at story hours, this soothing program sharpens observation skills. Ages 3-6. ~--Nancy McCray

The charm of this 'I Spy' tale is diffused through the unfortunately intricate search for the shrunken characters in this new, miniature edition. From HORN BOOK 1992, (c) Copyright 2010. The Horn Book, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. No redistribution permitted.
