In a companion story to Forever and the Night, Aidan Tremayne's sister Maeve utilizes her abilities as a vampire to travel through time to lead a rebellion against the queen of the vampires. During her travels, Maeve meets and falls in love with a mortal Civil War doctor, Calder Holbrook. Calder is fascinated by Maeve and returns her love, but Maeve is determined to erase his memories of her to protect him from her enemies. Before Maeve erases his memories, Calder is drawn into her war that pits vampire against vampire with the future of the undead at stake. Maeve's vampires race against a deadline to stop the queen, Lisette, before her actions cause the angels, led by Nemesis, to destroy all undead creatures. Highly recommended for all collections, and a necessity wherever the first book was popular. (Reviewed November 1, 1994)0425144569Melanie ^IDuncan
