Review by Booklist Review

The authors are unforthcoming about what precisely is new in the text of this revision of a 1972 original [BKL Mr 1 73] that was acclaimed as a bible of printmaking. The illustrations aren't so reticent: most postdate the first edition. Even if the text were unchanged, you'd be getting a much different book with this revision. The coverage of computer-aided and -generated techniques (and helio-reliefs and copier art, too) has been added, and the chapter "The Artist and the Law" is definitely up-to-date. Libraries that found the 1972 version useful needn't balk a minute before ordering its successor. Directory of materials and suppliers, bibliography, glossary; index. --Ray Olson
