Review by Booklist Review

The latest in the Foxfire series, A Foxfire Christmas originated as a 64-page Christmas card for Doubleday patrons and friends in 1985. Like the other Foxfire books, this one is written and edited by the high school English students of Eliot Wigginton in Rabum County, Georgia. It is a collection of Appalachian Christmas memories: the food, the people, the decorations, and the customs. There is a chapter of recipes, instructions for making decorations and toys, and lots of stories and anecdotes transcribed from taped interviews about Christmases in the 1930s (when celebrations were sometimes meager but memories were heartily cherished). Illustrations. ~--Cynthia Ogorek
