Ethan Ozzie Sykes is a former Navy SEAL and an underground operator for Black Knights, Inc., the covert government defense firm disguised as a custom motorcycle shop. When a black-ops international mission goes sideways, Ozzie is badly injured. Now he's stuck at BKI headquarters in Chicago, champing at the bit to get out into the field again. To his disgust, he's tasked instead with distracting the Chicago Tribune's ace reporter Samantha Tate-someone who's been trying to dig up dirt on BKI for years. But Samantha's beauty, intelligence, and sense of humor begin to make Ozzie lose his desire to keep her at bay. He's gotten tired of hiding, and Samantha's more than ready to be the person with whom he shares ...his secrets...

Review by Booklist Review

*Starred Review* In her latest and possibly best Black Knights Inc. novel, following Too Hard to Handle (2015), Walker tells the story of Samantha Tate, a reporter, and Ethan Ozzie Sykes, who is the only Black Knight member not currently out on a mission because he's healing from the last one. When Samantha gets in trouble with a biker gang because of her latest investigative story about their illegal firearms sales, Ozzie brings her back to BKI for safety, and swears the gang to secrecy so she doesn't find out about their black-ops activities. The two fall passionately in love but can't admit it, until danger escalates and Ozzie ends up injured. Even then, it takes an intervention by the BKI crew and their White House bosses to bring them together. Walker succeeds in interspersing a remarkable number of well-executed, graphic sex scenes with thrilling suspense, and secrets that just can't be kept. Ozzie is a memorably attractive hero, and Samantha is a very plucky heroine. Walker's fans will love this, as will readers of Maya Banks' KGI; Cindy Girard's Black Ops, Inc., and Laura Kaye's Hard Ink series.--Chelton, Mary K. Copyright 2017 Booklist

Review by Publisher's Weekly Review

The thrilling ninth installment in Walker's Black Knights Inc. contemporary series (after Too Hard to Handle) is her best yet. Ethan "Ozzie" Sykes is a computer whiz, a member of a custom motorcycle business, and a rock-solid special ops expert whose difficult childhood left him doubting anyone could ever love him. Determined journalist Samantha Tate is a tough investigative reporter for the Chicago Tribune; deep down she's a damaged little girl looking to avenge her father's murder. Ozzie and Samantha spend years trying to ignore their attraction to each other until it bursts into a flame neither of them can ignore. But their happily-ever-after is far from assured when a rival motorcycle gang decides that Samantha knows too much about their inner workings to live. Ozzie tries to keep her safe and protect his heart, but risks abound. Walker writes super-sexy alpha heroes and feisty heroines whom readers will cheer for. This razor-sharp, sensual, and intriguing tale will get hearts pounding. Agent: Nicole Resciniti, Seymour Agency. (Apr.) © Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved.

A wounded covert operative who, along with his colleagues, uses a custom motorcycle shop as a cover falls in love with a reporter who's convinced he's up to no good just as she gets on the wrong side of some true villains. From the first time she laid eyes on him, investigative journalist Samantha Tate knows Ethan "Ozzie" Sykes is a seductive bad boy, and she's "a total sucker for a bad boy." But after years of trying to get a story on the enigmatic Black Knights Inc. to no avail, while becoming friends with the gorgeous Ozzie, she suddenly has an insider tip that a Chicago bike gang is running guns, and when she adds two and two and gets five, she's convinced it's BKI. Stunned and frightened, she misinterprets an attempted attack on her as Ozzie trying to attack, failing to realize that he's trying to save her. But once they untangle that misunderstanding it becomes clear that someone truly is after her, and Ozzie and his friends decide to protect her, despite her threat to their undercover operations. For Ozzie the whole situation is one major problem, since he's been falling in love with her for years but won't risk his friends' safety by getting involved with a reporter. Mix in his new insecurity due to a recent injury that impedes his effectiveness along with some long-held abandonment issues, and Ozzie has more than his fair share of internal conflicts, and his determination to keep Samantha at arms' length is both confusing and wrenching for her. Walker's hugely popular Black Knights series continues with sexy bad boy and secret geek Ozzie; brave, intrepid Samantha; and their high-stakes romance set against a fast-paced, action-packed mystery. A supporting cast that adds authenticity and texture to the story and an intricate plot that creates sexual tension and believable menace keep the reader invested and the pages turning.A high-octane romantic suspense novel with heart-pounding intrigue and a heart-twisting love story.
