Review by Library Journal Review

Beaven is a quilt designer and owner of Wholecloth Studio in London. Her book includes 20 quilting projects--small pieces as well as larger ones that require more assembly and different skillsets. Each has well-written instructions, photos, diagrams, and a thorough list of supplies. Beaven shares some personal tips, along with broader advice on quilting methods that can help insure successful results. Along with making traditional pieces, readers are encouraged to apply quilting skills "outside the box," to projects like embellishing clothing or making a faux-quilted curtain. All of the book's information is straightforward. The one-piece "samplers" for beginners are stepping stones to mastering complicated pieces. More experienced quilters might learn fresh approaches to show off their talents and brush up on skills. VERDICT This book would put a novice quilter on the right track, and crafters of all levels will likely find it useful.--Deborah A. Broocker, Georgia Perimeter Coll. Lib., Dunwoody
