Review by Library Journal Review

Those in need of go-to cookies for gift-giving, bake sales, or family gatherings are in luck. In this follow-up to her debut, Sally's Baking Addiction, self-taught baker McKenney devotes a book to cookies; a common search term on her popular blog, Sally's Baking Addiction. Featuring dozens of new creations, along with a few blog staples, this beautifully photographed cookbook includes delicacies such as autumn spice oatmeal cookies, whole-wheat apple cinnamon cookies, glazed soft maple cookies, and pecan turtle cookie bars. A key ingredient in several recipes is molasses, which adds a richer flavor to various treats. Tips throughout, labeled "Sally Says," provide advice on everything from chilling dough to storing instructions. Bakers of all skill levels will benefit from McKenney's introduction, which lists common ingredients and steps for making dough ahead of time. A stand mixer or hand mixer is essential; cooling racks and silicone baking mats are also recommended. VERDICT With tempting recipes for all seasons and flavors and plenty of lavish photographs, this standout collection will draw new and experienced bakers to the kitchen at all times of the year.--Stephanie Sendaula, Library Journal © Copyright 2017.
