Veteran crochet designer Barker follows up her first cable crochet book (Contemporary Celtic Crochet) with a second collection of richly textured, sophisticated designs. Most are intermediate level, assuming knowledge of basic crochet stitches as well as some familiarity with the specialty stitches used for the crocheted cables. Styles include several cozy wraps and scarves, sweaters and cardigans featuring allover cables, and a shawl combining cables and lace. Both written and charted instructions are provided, and size ranges for the garments highlighted are generous, with options from women's XS-3X. A photo-based guide featuring both standard crochet stitches and the numerous specialty stitches used in the patterns is included. VERDICT Crocheters interested in incorporating cables into their projects will appreciate Barker's designs, as well as the helpful stitch guide. © Copyright 2017.
