Review by School Library Journal Review

PreS-Gr 1-Using simple language and no more than two sentences per page, these slim volumes present young readers with a basic overview of weather and climate. Despite some overlap, each book remains focused on a general weather-related question and provides readers with easy-to-understand examples and explanations. In order to maintain simplicity; however, some facts are overstated, such as "Long, heavy snowfalls or strong winds with blowing snow are blizzards" or misleading, including the image that accompanies the statement "Each season lasts about three months," in which the months that children generally associates with each season are slightly askew. Even with these minor issues, the vibrant three-quarter page photos on every page will give inquisitive readers an inviting gateway to natural phenomena and the people who study them. Solid introductions to the subject. (c) Copyright 2014. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. No redistribution permitted.

Review by Horn Book Review

These simple books focus on different aspects of weather: environmental clues about the day's weather, factors that affect weather changes, and weather's relationship with climate. Close-up stock photos accompany short, simple sentences, which include highlighted vocabulary words. The information is basic, but beginning readers curious about the weather will appreciate these slight offerings. There are three other fall 2014 books in this series. Glos., ind.
