This contemporary series starter from bestseller Herkness (The Place I Belong) shines with its catchy dialogue, memorable characters, and top-notch writing. Self-made billionaire & CEO Nathan Trainor has had enough of wealth-seeking women who can't see past his wallet. In a drunken fit of frustration after another failed romance, he and two other billionaire bachelors make a pact that, within a year, each will find a woman who's not blinded by his enormous wealth. Chloe Russell, a temp at Nathan's business, is definitely in need of some cash, but she insists on earning it the old-fashioned way-by working for it. When Nathan's regular assistant comes down with the flu, Chloe is temporarily promoted to take her spot. Before long she's in Nathan's executive penthouse, and after he also gets sick, he convinces her to work from his home. But Nathan realizes the flu isn't the only reason he's feeling feverish, and Chloe begins to worry more about her heart than her immune system. Readers will love following this pair through the Big Apple as they learn to navigate the obstacles that threaten to keep them apart. The only disappointment is the wait for the sequel.
