Review by School Library Journal Review

K-Gr 2-Brownlee and McClelland are little girls, famous for covering pop songs in viral videos. Show Time with Sophia Grace and Rosie, which they wrote with the help of Willa Grace, is a story featuring the cousins in an elementary school setting. A talent show looms, and the girls drop hints about a performance they are planning. The tale culminates with their big surprise: the tiara-wearing pair have invited their classmates to share a bit of the spotlight and join them on stage (as backup singers, of course). McNicholas liberally supplies pink and frilly details that fit the Sophia Grace and Rosie brand. The lyrics of the final song the kids perform are a bland rip-off of Katy Perry's song "Roar," but fans of the bubbly, glittery cousins probably won't mind.-Nora Clancy, Teachers College Community School, New York City (c) Copyright 2014. Review by Horn Book Review

Following Tea Time with Sophia Grace and Rosie, this offering has the tiara-topped cousins (modeled on the child authors) altruistically recruiting insecure kids to join them in the school talent show. This feel-good pablum (who wins the talent show? "EVERYONE!") employs cutesy, clichi-swamped writing (a typical page features "super-de-dooper," "grrrr-eat," and "a twinkle in her eye") and pink-blasted illustrations. (c) Copyright 2014.
