Douglas' popular cat-themed alphabet series is heading into the home stretch with the twenty-fifth entry. The wily feline protagonist Midnight Louie continues to help his owner, public-relations specialist Temple, solve crimes. Temple is back in Vegas, engaged to ex-priest and radio host Matt while working with ex-fiancé Max to deal with the mobsters still after them (from previous titles in the series). Meanwhile, Temple is disenchanted by an eccentric new client who wants to launch a UFO-themed restaurant on top of a construction site where two bodies are dumped. Readers need to be familiar with the many references to earlier adventures, but that shouldn't be a problem for fans, who long ago bought into the crazy antics and anthropomorphic humor that are Douglas' trademarks. Review by Library Journal Reviews

The inimitable Midnight Louie is nearing the end of the alphabet with the 24th in this Las Vegas-based series (after Cat in a White Tie and Tails). Ratchet up the wackiness factor when the UFO believers come to the strip. [Page 64]. (c) Copyright 2013. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. Review by Publishers Weekly Reviews

Douglas's busy 25th cat caper (after 2012's Cat in a White Tie and Tails) finds PR professional Temple Barr hesitantly taking on a new client, Silas T. Farnum. Farnum claims his "Area 54" attraction is going to be a hit on the Las Vegas Strip, and he has some unusual evidence to prove it. The discovery of two dead bodies on the building site, however, renders it more crime scene than scene of alien eeriness. Meanwhile, notorious serial killer "Kitty the Cutter," is being secretly counseled by Temple's fiancé, Matt Devine, and her ex-boyfriend, Max Kinsella, is back, memory impaired and hot on the heels of Kitty. Meanwhile, Temple's clever cat, Midnight Louie, is on the case, looking to find the "purr"-fect solution. Those new to the series may need to read the book more than once to figure out the many ongoing subplots. Agent: Howard Morhaim, Howard Morhaim Agency. (Aug.) [Page ]. Copyright 2013 PWxyz LLC

Cat in an Alien X-Ray takes the Las Vegas gang on a science-fictional roller-coaster ride, as Midnight Louie, feline PI, and company encounter UFO enthusiasts, conspiracy nuts who are too bizarre even for tin foil hat therapy. An Area 51 attraction on the Strip threatens to bring more than starry-eyed enthusiasts to town. Once again it is up to that furballed PI Midnight Louie to keep his crew in line and save them from the attack of the creatures from the beyond…or common criminals that prey on the innocent.
