Review by School Library Journal Review

Gr 1-2-Igor is the loutish assistant to a mad scientist with a creepy, bat-filled castle and a lab full of strange experiments. He wants to be smart like Master, who can make robots and wake the dead. Igor, though, has a small brain, and so he decides that he'll steal his boss's favorite fuzzy pink slippers in order to force the scientist to give him a new one. Master gives in to the demand, and gives the fellow a doggy brain. This unfunny story with its unappealing characters seems glaringly inappropriate for beginning readers. The exaggerated cartoon drawings done in garish colors likewise fall flat.-Marilyn Taniguchi, Beverly Hills Public Library, CA (c) Copyright 2010.
